If self defense programs are what you’re searching for, then I suggest you stop looking and go buy a .357 Magnum instead. This handgun can blow away any filthy street thugs who dare get in your way!

Alright, alright…I’m joking. Please don’t be mad

Actually I just found out that the late Bruce Lee – who is one of my favorite action stars by the way- had carried the aforementioned handgun when he became famous.

I’m not sure whether this is true but interesting info nonetheless. Now, as far as self defense programs go, I recommend courses that teach you how to fight and defend using moves that are applicable in real life.

What I mean is using street fighting moves to help you kick serious butt in the heat of battle! When you’re out there facing large, burly guys who wish to mug or simply curb stomp your head repeatedly, then you definitely got to use no-holds-barred street fighting techniques to take them down.

Forget about the Taekwondo or Karate drills you did with your dojo mates every weekend.

You’ll get your butt handed to you before delivering the first strike. Fact of the matter is street self defense moves are much more practical in real world survival scenarios because they are simple, direct and relatively easy to master.

And most importantly…

They don’t follow the same rules as you normally would when training in martial art schools. Look, most martial art schools tend to be sports oriented. You train/spar for points and rules are implemented accordingly (no groin strike, blow to the face, etc) thus preventing you from truly learning how to defend and also how to fight.

Now, self defense programs that focus on street fighting techniques will teach you how to use the appropriate moves for different survival scenarios. Whether you’re facing a bulky street thug, a weapon wielding thug or even multiple thugs simultaneously, there are all sorts of simple to perform “real world” street self defense moves to help you emerge victorious while that tattooed street thug lie on the pavement in excruciating pain.

Now when it comes to learning street self defense techniques, I recommend joining a class that teaches reality based self defense (RBSD). Another great method is to download step-by-step street self defense manuals that are packed with photos. Don’t get the text-intensive ones because they are hard to follow. The former is much better and will get you up to speed as quickly as possible.

Here’s a really good street fighting/defense course that is packed with precise instructions and detailed photos. There are over 100 easy to follow photos in it. Most of the moves are highly devastating and easy to master. Easily one of the best downloadable self defense programs out there. Click on this link to check it out.

It is sometimes held that the Aikido Techniques of Morihei Ueshiba are not always usable in real combat. Such a statement merely shows that a person doesn’t know the nasty history of this fascinating art. One should take note, however, that this martial art is derived from Aikijujitsu, which art was put together by Japanese warlords thousands years ago.

Before going further, let me say that this article doesn’t put forth the use of purely destructive techniques. After all, studying a martial art for the sake of the spirit should provide one with a belief system that will enable one to avoid combat situations. That said, knowing the deadlier techniques will enhance the student’s understanding, and should the philosophy proves insufficient to the task…one will have the necessary tools.

Something every Aikido student understands is the value of break falls, called ukemi, and body rolls.

Thus, instead of depositing an attacker gently on the mat so he isn’t damaged, one could place them ungently. Simply throw your attacker in a manner whereby he can’t roll, and he will thus be damaged.

Another trick is to throw the attacker into something. When Uke comes at you, simply extend the circle of your defense a little too long, or a little too short, and throw your attacker into a wall, over a chair, into a picture window, over a cliff…you get the idea. Practicing this in a dojo will actually enable you to find more harmony when you execute the throw to the correct proportion.

There are many jointlocks which, if taken too far, will render your opponent damaged. Any jointlock can be made more deadly by ‘over extending’ it. Again, knowing how to do this will enable one to find more harmony in the actual martial arts move.

The best method, of course, is to do a serious study of Atemi. Atemi are the strikes that were taken out of Daito Ryu Aki jujitsu, thus helping the transition into a softer art. One can study strikes by examining any hard style martial art, Kenpo or Taekwondo, for instance, and then simply put them into Aikido techniques.

The last method for changing your Aikido into a more deadly art is to use weapons while you practice. Simply wear a white tee shirt and hold some red marker pens. This is safe, educational, and better than paintball!

In summation, let me say again that Aikido is best fulfilled when one sticks to the purity of the founder and seeks harmony in the spirit. That said, one should insure that their martial art is up to the test, and not just an empty tiger. Learning how to make your Aikido Techniques more deadly and damaging to an attacker through the advice of this article is a good start.

Making sure you are well protected is a far fetch from the daily sports of which martial arts are a part of. Keep your skills masked as no one knows how the outcome of any bout would be, hence it is better if you cannot tip the opponent off on what you are about to utilize. So employ it until or unless it is the last choice and face the challenge.

It dates back form time when it was a basic animal instinct within humans to live and survive. However over time our minds were what raised us dominant above other creatures. Back in those primitive days our predators were highly skilled and numerous lethal machines of death to whom we could succumb if not being able to use our self-defense to our better advantage.

Today it has become more of a matter of showing off rather than the key if lost could take your life too. Man has lost the use for it.

But we still have to utilize it in one way or another; but that occurs for very little chances in our lives. Yet there always remains a need to save oneself from the risk of collateral damage via the medium of self defense, as mentioned and secluded in sports articles.

Martial arts are a huge diverse and confusing variety of skills and techniques as well as types such as taekwondo, Judo, Kung Fu, Muay Thai, Kickboxing and nearly hundred others, each one with up to tens of variants and classes. These arts are a unique possession not only in terms of skill, and security but also in terms of physique fitness and maturity. Martial Arts may vary from focusing on self protection or the offense.

Self defense goes more along the “waste not, want not” line. Without throwing that skill around and without asking for some in return one can spend a very personally satisfied and secure life wherever he may be. One thing however must be remembered is that the blockbuster super action heroic stuff that occurs in the movies is simply not applicable in real-life situations. Self-defense is like learning how to read as something which is used only when in need or forced to.

Sports articles mostly highlight the game from a sporting point of view. Having to punch your way through several thugs is not the concept here. Instead martial arts are a noble skill earning you respect and providing you peace and height of mind power and maturity.

Like daily sports you can also see it from a competitive point of view, do not shun the sporting form of martial art. It is fun and a good way to practice.

Self defense always increases the level of confidence in you, but on the same time it is advised to use this extraordinary skill in a way which you never ever intend to use for showing heroics. The only thing which really matters is patience and complete reliance in terms of your inner skills.

People always have the liberty to choose whatever they want in life. However, some simple choices that seem to have uncertain consequences confuse us. If these options all bear good benefits, then it is even harder for one to choose. This analogy applies to the idea of choosing one’s martial arts discipline. With so many disciplines to choose from, how could one find a satisfying pick? This article will help you in what you are looking for.

The main reason as to why people have the difficulty in deciding on a certain discipline is because, just like everything else, they don’t have in depth knowledge about martial arts. In this article, we will give you categories that will help you decide.

Speed and Agility:

This is an important aspect of combat, or rather this is one categories for choosing a certain discipline.

Speed pertains to the ability of a person to deliver strikes and movements that are not easy to intercept, while agility pertains to the ability to dodge strikes from an opponent. In this area, it is ideal for a person to be a lightweight and to be very active. Known martial arts disciplines that emphasize speed and agility are the following:

• Wing Chun Kung Fu

• Karatedo

• Shaolin Kung Fu

• Taekwondo

Power and Endurance:

This is another important aspect of fighting and among the categories a person should base his or her choice. Power pertains to the ability to deliver strikes that could induce tremendous punishment or overpower an enemy’s strength in grappling, while endurance pertains to the ability to absorb damage thrown by the opponent. In this area, it is ideal for a person to be heavyweight, having a physical built that is bigger than any normal person. Known martial arts disciplines that emphasize power and endurance are the following:

• Muay Thai

• Boxing

• Jiu jitsu

• Graeco-Roman Wrestling

Rhythm and Reflex:

These aspects in martial arts are important as well as considered to be special. A person can determine his or her choice of discipline in this category. Rhythm pertains to the gracefulness and effectiveness of a person’s steps, in terms of delivering attacks and defensive moves. In this area, it is ideal for the person to be flexible. Known martial arts disciplines emphasizing rhythm are the following:

• Tai Chi Chuan

• Capoeira

• Penkak Silat

Reflex, however, pertains to the special ability of a person to intercept attacks and find or create an opening to deliver a counter-attack. In this area, a person does not require specific physical attribute, therefore, applicable to any person regardless of the size or weight. Known martial arts disciplines emphasizing reflex skill are the following:

• Aikido

• Escrima/Arnis

• Marines CQC

The specific martial disciplines mentioned here are only among the examples worth looking, based on their popularity. But there are many other forms similar to these and it is good to identify them in the particular category given above.

I almost feel guilty, talking about martial arts dirty tricks, when such things as Karate and Kung Fu have come to represent honor and virtue. The truth of the matter, however, is that if you have to use your martial skill off the mat, fighting dirty may make the difference between life and death. That said, here’s a few nasty, little things that will help you walk away, and him rue the day.

It’s not considered a dirty tactic these days, at least not as much as when I was growing up, but a good, swift kick to the apples can win a back alley brawl faster than fast. You don’t need a lot of martial arts training to make this work, and it will distract the bully, and maybe even end the fight. When he charges do a front kick, or simply raise the leg and let him run into your foot, and the fight is over.

One important item you should know, dirty fight or not, is never take your eyes off his. If you launch a snap kick to his banana bunch, watch his eyes, and be willing to change tactics. You will find that watching his eyes can really change the fight.

For instance, you charge, and you throw something in his eyes. Heck, you can even spit at his eyes, and if you can make him blink, you have just increased the odds of you living and him going down for the snooze. Even a hand motion, a flick of the fingers towards the eyes, an intention to make him think you are going for the eyes, might help out.

Now, let’s say the fight is on, and you have to do something pretty darn quick. Something you won’t learn in many schools, and especially not in the MMA arena, or the UFC octagon, is to go after his fingers. One of the first things we were taught, way back when, was to use a snappy backfist to his open fingers as you close the distance.

If you can make him say ow, or even damage his fingers, you’ve got an edge. Make him blink, or make it so he can’t close a fist, or use his hands to grab, and you’ve essentially destroyed his weapons. The idea here is to win the fight, to walk away from the mugging, and to leave him with a better idea of how to behave in polite society.

Now, in closing, I know these tricks aren’t much, but they will help. If you want more than an edge, if you want a fighting chance, you really should find a classical school and learn some good Martial Arts Techniques. Heck, a little time having a blast in the training hall, and you’re going to have Karate power, or Kung Fu power, or Kenpo Power, or Taekwondo Power, or whatever kind of power you desire, and whether you use martial arts dirty tricks or not, you’re going to come out on top in a street fight.

Physical safety and security is the second most important need of people according to Maaslow’s hierarchy of needs. The instinct to defend ourselves is strong but most of the time, people still fail.

Criminals nowadays will stop at nothing to steal from others, even if that means they hurt them in the process. Most of these unscrupulous characters carry all sorts of weapons – from guns to knives – for intimidation.

In bookstores nowadays, you will notice one whole area for self-help books, magazines and videos. Often, you will find hundreds of paperbacks and hard bounds on helping people how to be financially successful or how to get over his or her partner after a break-up.

Now there are self defense videos – DVD copies that will teach you how to protect yourself in dire situations.

Learning the basics of self defense is not really very difficult.

You have to realize that you are not learning the intricacies of martial arts – that is completely different. Reality based self defense videos will give you tips and instructions on how to act in situations such as a surprise attack.

One important factor in self defense is that you do not inflict violence. You only use the expertise that you have learned when you are being assailed so that you can get away and call for help. This is one big difference between actual self defense training and martial arts like Taekwondo, Karate and Judo. These arts are actually sports that are geared for ring fighting for points.

In martial arts, you are often partnered to spar with somebody in your weight and height category. In real life, those thugs who want to grab your handbag are way taller, heavier and faster than you.

In self defense, you are taught how to protect yourself in real street situations. You can practice how to hit these people in the right location so that you can inflict real pain – so that you can easily escape from their clutches.

One good thing about self defense videos is that they typically contain background information on what occurs in your body while you are under attack. Some schools that you may enroll in do not provide you this very significant information due to lack of time. But it is very crucial. You need to know that your body tends to freeze when surprised instead of act. You need to learn how to combat the collapse of your bodily functions after adrenaline has been pumped through your blood vessels. Understanding your body is as important as the actual moves you utilize to protect yourself.

Perhaps the most important thing in learning through self defense videos is that it is economical yet highly effective. Learn the moves you need from a quality video program and then all you need to do is be alert every single time you are walking alone or going home at night. Staying alert may keep you from dangerous situations. Self defense training will help you just in case you are confronted with danger.

Are you struggling to lose fat fast? If you are then I have some amazing news! Below you are going to discover some stunning tips that will have you shedding the excess pound like crazy. All you need to do is have some motivation and dedication to follow through and pretty soon you will be amazed of your body when you stare in the mirror.

First off there are two main points to focus on when you want to lose weight. They are:

1. Proper Dieting and
2. Proper exercising.

Dieting- Contrary to what most people may believe, you will have to get your diet in order if you want to lose weight. Think about it, do you think if you continue to eat the same amounts and types of foods and a daily basis you are going to see a change? I am sure you will agree that continue doing the same thing will give the same results. Below are some dieting tips that you should consider:

* Eat less foods than you are accustom to eating on a daily basis.

This way your calorie intake will be less than what you actually burn and your body will resort to burn the stored fat for the extra energy it need to carry out metabolic functions.

* Spread your meals throughout the day.Instead of eating 3 large meals, you can spread it out into smaller portions and eat 5- 6 times per day. This way your metabolism will be better regulated so you can burn fat faster.

* Go Slow At Meals. This tip alone can make you see amazing results very quickly. You see when you eat, your brain takes several minutes after you are full to recognize it. So going slow will help you to avoid overeating which is one of the main cause of being overweight.

Exercising: The 31 Day Fat Loss Cure has been developed by Vic Magary who spent some time in the US Army where he learned how to get fit quickly and train properly. He is also a martial artist with experience (black belt grade) in both Taekwondo and Karate. He then went on to set up a gym and became a personal trainer. Since then he has helped many people lose weight and get in great shape.

The 31 Day Fat Loss Cure offers a fantastic approach to fat loss, utilizing a variety of effective techniques, including fun bodyweight exercises you can do right at home. No matter if you’re a beginner or an advanced “fitness nut”…. sticking to this program is sure to produce great results.

Do you want to learn a really effective street self defense move? In this article, I’ll reveal a highly effective 3 hit combo technique that would help you on the streets.

Because you know how it is – when you’re on the streets, the common street thug doesn’t give a crap about those Taekwondo green, purple, brown, black belts that you earned from sparring for points.

All a common street thug cares about is robbing you of your hard earned cash or putting you in the hospital! You know, I’ve read a few self defense 101 books and all I saw was a bunch of vague, useless instructions like “keep you forearms straight” or “shift your heel position the side” and bla, bla…

See, most street fights don’t last longer than 20 seconds. Maybe 30 seconds tops. So when you’re on the street confronting a guy who is intent on robbing or hurting you, then might want to go right ahead and execute street self defense moves that are strong enough to knock them down or even decimate them.

So here’s a really effective 3 hit combo stun attack:

Starting Combo:

Perform an uppercut on your attacker but instead of connecting your knuckles to his chin, use the palm of your heel.

You see, the uppercut is a fantastic self defense move because it’s very difficult to block it. When delivered, it stays beyond your opponent’s field of vision.

Using the palm of your heel instead of your knuckles would ensure precision. The chin is a small area after all, so it’s hard to hit it accurately unless you’re wearing a boxing glove.

Combo Hit 2:

After landing the palm uppercut on your opponent, you can immediately follow up with a head clincher (if your uppercut fails to knock down the attacker). Perform this highly flexible street self defense move by placing both hands on the back of your attacker’s head.

Next, bring the attacker’s head down and smash his nose into your knee. Now that ought to stun him real good!

Combo Hit 3:

By now, the attacker is probably holding his nose in pain. Make him feel even more miserable by attacking his groin! That’s right, go ahead and deliver the classic groin kick and let him double over in sheer pain.

Ouch! It’s going to take some time for him to recover.

By the way, do you need more proven and easy to perform street self defense moves? If yes, then you definitely should check out this highly detailed guide that provides step-by-step instructions with full photos to help you fend off virtually any attack – even if you’re outnumbered.

If you’re a fanatic like me, then you want powerful kicks that can knock a moose on its tail. Sure, spin jumping Taekwondo kicks are great, but I want to lift that mugger’s body up and send it sailing. Period.

I’ve looked at a ton of training aids over the years, and some work, some don’t, some are expensive, but none of them has worked as well as the good old basic training aid you can pick up for a buck or two down at the orchard supply store. The training aid is fairly compact, and can be replaced quickly and easily should it break. The training aid I am speaking of is the basic eight by eight by sixteen cinder block.

First exercise is to simply kick over the block. The reason you do this is to train yourself to get your knee high, which will allow you to drive a straighter line into your opponent’s belly. You can easily stack the cinder blocks for different heights, and you can place them so you have to kick over them to strike a kicking bag.

Second exercise is to stand on the cinderblock and do your kicks.

This is going to build balance, and strength in the balancing leg. It is fun to practice kicking in the four directions, and trains you to pivot quickly and easily.

Third exercise, you can put out four blocks in a square and start doing your forms on them. You can go around and around the blocks, reverse your direction, hop on and off, and your legs are going to get stronger and stronger and super stronger. Obviously, you’re not going to have just powerful kicks, your stances and other movements are going to get more powerful.

Here are a couple of things you should know about training on cinder blocks. Make sure you learn how to lift your legs up and search for a landing place, should the block fall over. Also, start with them on side, practice a while, then stand them on end.

A cinder block weighs twenty-nine pounds. That means you can use them to do a little weight lifting. You can also, should you feel the urge, test your power by smashing them with a kick or punch.

In closing, cinder blocks are the cheapest training device available, and they can be used in many ways. There are many different things you can do, which things are all basic and relate directly to increasing your strength and agility. Guaranteed, practice with these cheapo aids for a while and you will have fantastically powerful kicks!
